Church Planting

Carrying the Gospel Where It's Never Been Before

Sharing the good news. Spreading the Gospel. Reaching nations for Christ — that’s what we are all about, and it starts by developing strong churches around the world. So with God’s guidance, we seek to come alongside leaders in the countries where we serve to help them as they work diligently to reach their communities for Christ. Through vital resources and support, we help these ministers of the Gospel as they seek to carry out Christ's Great Commission.

Ways to Help

Support-a-Pastor in China, Cuba, Ethiopia, or Myanmar

For $50/month, you can sponsor a pastor in one of the countries where we serve. A pastor's profile will be provided to you, and as reports become available we will forward them. However, please understand that many of these pastors are working in extremely remote areas where transportation and communication are profoundly limited. Reporting, while a regular requirement, often comes to us through their overseers and is not in a personal format. But these pastors are deeply grateful for support they receive that allows them to follow God's call to make disciples of Christ. This support lifts the burden of survival from their shoulders so they can continue to preach and teach and build up Christ's church.

Equip and Encourage: Leadership Training

WorldServe helps to provide training opportunities that equip and encourage church-planting pastors. Our key partners in each country who oversee groups of church planters identify types of training they see a need for and arrange for pastors to attend annual training sessions. Topics range from Bible and theology to practical ministry helps to marriage strengthening and enrichment. This vital means of providing ministry support not only helps equip pastors for ministry, but also strengthens and encourages them in fellowship with one another, as many of them work in difficult and isolated situations. Often times this is just the encouragement they need to be refreshed and renewed to keep pressing on in the work God has called them to do.

Obeying Christ's Great Commission

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20, NASB)

In response to Christ's mandate, church-planting efforts remain central in our vision to advance the gospel and impact nations in Jesus' name. When WorldServe Ministries funds a church-planting initiative, we establish a secure foundation by providing a trained national pastor who works under the supervision of trusted local leadership. That pastor then serves the newly established congregation, helping believers mature in their faith and share Christ with others. In turn, this mobilizes the planted church to develop a “mission mindset” and become a strong parent church for a new body of believers. Using this model, we help church-planting movements as they reach their countries for Christ and establish networks of self-sustaining churches.

Sound churches grow out of small groups of believers meeting in homes; they are well-suited for personal growth and accountability. They are built on prayer, devoted to worship and fellowship, and have discipleship and evangelism woven into the fabric of their members’ faith. These churches, by design, replicate rapidly, facilitating accelerated church planting.
